Senior Connection Program
The purpose of a senior
drop-in program is to reduce the
risk of the social isolation of
immigrant seniors who have limited
culturally sensitive activities.
Preventing the loneliness and
isolation in newcomer seniors
provides them a plate form where
they can share their life
skills, experience and interests
amongst their peers in a social
supportive environment.
This weekly drop-in program
gives an opportunity to isolated
seniors to come out, Interact
with each other, exchange ideas,
and make new friends. Seniors get an
opportunity to plan and involve
in activities which are geared
towards them and their concerns. Network through this
group will facilitate their
adaptation and integration in
Canadian society.
Activities in Senior Connection
Program include; arts/crafts,
poetry, field trips, discussion
on topics of interest for
seniors as well as and light exercise etc. This social interaction
empowers seniors while maintaining
better mental and physical
health. Program improves seniors
self-esteem. Planning for
the activities provides seniors
leadership opportunity and
increase awareness regarding
recourses within the community.
