Our Programs
Our Breakthrough Intervention Program funded by the Ministry of Solicitor General will target young adults within the Peel region between the ages of 18 and 39 years old, who are directly or indirectly involved in crimes related to guns, gangs, and human trafficking. This program will address the risk factors that make young adults vulnerable to violence, including exposure to family and friends involved in gangs; early onset of delinquent behaviors; substance abuse; lack of meaningful job opportunities; academic failure; lack of social and economic opportunities.
Through a comprehensive, integrated and targeted approach, Breakthrough will bring together community partners, when and if needed, in order to provide a continuum of intervention services that will engage and divert young adults who are currently facing charges. Engaging young adults in the development of an individualized care plan is an integral part of the Team Approach process. We will focus on the program’s main components: Victim’s Impact, Education, Employment, Mental Health/Trauma, Housing, Problem Solving and Substance Abuse.
